We’re back! Tryggvi and Rune make their triumphant return from a deserved break with the light and breezy Oscar nominee First Reformed. But it’s not all fun and games as the boys tackle the big issues of the day, such as noodles, comedy and piss-poor beer.
Happy New Year to all of you. We decided to take a week off to celebrate the holiday season and to recuperate from it. It’s been a busy time for us, but rest assured, we will be back with a vengeance in a couple of weeks and have a lot of movies to catch up with. Today we are re-running our discussion on Phantom Thread, a favorite film of ours from 2018 which we feel has gotten way too little attention this year. Enjoy the show!
Happy holidays folks! We bring you myrrh, frankincense and the apocalypse! Bird Box is the film, plus a look back at 2018 and forward to 2019.
It’s our HO HO HOrrible pre-Christmas show! Monsters old and new make appearances as Rune and Tryggvi check out Christmas horror film Krampus. But it’s not all chills as there is plenty of hygge, the wonderful Nathan Fillion and a special guest appearance by Bobby Ewing.
This aggression will not stand, man. Well, there sure is a lot of it though in episode 58 as Tryggvi and Rune finally get to discuss the Coen brothers’ wild west opus The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Plus, horror teeth, some inappropriate parenting tips and since this is a Coen episode, a rug gets peed on.
It’s a mixed pot of screaming toddlers, sugary drinks and airplane movies in episode 57, before Rune and Tryggvi battle it out over the merits of Denmark’s Oscar contender The Guilty. This may be the most they have disagreed thus far, so don’t miss this one!
It’s episode 56 and this time Tryggvi and Rune enter some Nordic folklore and check out Swedish film and Un Certain Regard winner Gräns. Also, they look at Netflix’s Private Life and some other edgy stuff. It’s all a little bit unsettling, bordering on the normal – perfectly fitting for Halloween.
I make you laugh? I’m here to fucking amuse you? Yes we are! It’s episode 55 and Rune and Tryggvi disagree about the merits of Scorsese’s cult classic Goodfellas. But it’s not all Jimmy Two-times and Johnny Roastbeef, we also have an all star lineup of Gilliam, Truffaut and Godard. Come on fuckos, let’s go for a ride!
Episode 54 is out and this time Tryggvi and Rune look at Norwegian film Utøya 22.July. Unsurprisingly, given the subject matter, the mood is quiet and sombre. There is however room for a salty drinking story and some fatherhood tips. A bit different this one, but not to be missed.
It’s episode 53 and we go full frontal Nordic! Rune and Tryggvi get lost in Hlynur Pálmason’s dark, yet white, feature debut Winter Brothers. Also some Ozark talk, phone-bots, life hacks and no less than four glorious penises! Beat that, rest of the world!
